It has a square 262K colors display with a resolution of 208x208 pixels along with a 2 megapixel camera which would take pictures of up to 1600x1200 pixels resolution and record video of up to 176x144 pixels resolution.

Nokia 5500 Sport is not just an ordinary phone. It's a full-featured smartphone with Symbian OS and S60 user interface. Nokia expands E-series with E50

Today Nokia announced the smallest E-series Symbian phone, the E50.

The latest addition in this product line is with bar shape and is only 113 mm x 43.5 mm x 15.5 mm big and weighs 104 g. It is a quad-band business phone with some interesting technologies implemented in it, like the Avaya Communication Manager which is used for connecting to company ground phones via your Nokia E50. The display of the new Nokia is 262K colors one with 240 x 320 pixels resolution. The phone runs on Symbian 9.1 OS and is based on the 3rd generation S60 user interface. Various business and office features like Intellisync Wireless Email, BlackBerry Connect, Visto Mobile, Activesync Mail for Exchange, and Altexia support and office documents viewer are also built-in. Nokia E50 handles .zip archives and .pdf documents, too.

Connectivity options are GPRS and EDGE, both Class 10. Bluetooth, Infrared and USB short range connectivity is also available. Nokia E50 has 70 MB internal memory and offers a microSD card slot for further extension. The phone has music and video playback support and also features a 1.3 megapixel camera with 4x zoom and video capture. This, however, depends on the local market and dealers, in some markets E50 will be released without a camera. Samsung SGH-X820

For the Sviaz ExpoComm 2006 in Russia (10-13 May) Samsung will present their ultra slim phone SGH-X820.

The new bar phone is only 6.9 mm thick, but there is a hump on the top of the phone which makes it a bit thicker in that part. Samsung X820 will feature a 2 megapixel camera with video recording, MP3 support, EDGE, Bluetooth connectivity and TV-out. The slim phone has 80 MB of internal memory and weighs just 66 g. It will hit the European markets (including Russia) in a week. In June it will be available in China under the SGH-X828 name.

Samsung also announced the SGH-D900 model, but no pictures are published so far. D900 will be a slim slider (13 mm) with 3 megapixel camera, QVGA display and microSD card slot.

I just got this phone a week ago as an upgrade from my old 8200. Yes, its a old phone but still nice.

Screen

This phone has a very nice screen on it. Only 65k colors, but the resolution and size is very nice, 176 x 220. Not much to say about the outer screen, it does what its supposed to do.

Ringers

The ringers on this phone sound crazy! This phone has the loudest ringers ive ever heard, even compared to the new phones out right now. It accepts acc(m4a) which sound even better than mp3 and take up less space. If you make your own, you can get them even louder with some tweaking.

Keypad

Not the best keypad, but looks way better than the other keypads sanyo puts on its phones. Its illuminated in blue, and easy to press the buttons.

Video Camera

The camera is decent. Pictures come out ok in bright light, but very grainy with low light. The camcorder is a little better, compared to the camcorders on other phones. Pictures can be set to low, med, and large. Also has zoom and image enchancing effects.

Vision

This phone doesnt have evdo, but regular vision is faster than on previous sanyos.

Build Quality

Built like a tank. This phone can take a beating. Im actually not worried about breaking it if i drop it. The grips make it feel real good and comfortable in your hands.

Design

Nice design. its bascially a hybrid of a 7300/8300. The changeable faceplates are a nice touch.

Overall

I love this phone! It may not have the best features out there, but overall its a great phone, especially at the price i got it for. Highly recomened for people who look for durabilty and features in a phone.

This (in my opinion) is a pretty cool phone! It isn't a 3G phone but I've never used either of my last 2 3G phones for videocall so can't say that bothers me.

Comes with a 2mega-pixel camera,which when used the whole screen is used making it look more like a digital camera than a phone!The quality of pictures is A1 - I tried the camera on the Samsung E780 at the same time and even though they are both supposed to be 2mp cameras the Walkman is ten times better!

I love the buttons on it, its just a gr8 phone to wap with (and unlike both of my last year's phones Samsung Z107 & Samsung Z500 you CAN use gsm wap on it not just gprs - handy when you still have a genie unlimited wap contract )

It has all the usual specifications you would expect with a mobile ie bluetooth,infrared etc and also has a mp3/walkman, the pc software is also pretty cool enabling you to download entire music collections onto the phone.

Games,music and other applications can be stored on the memory card (which comes free with the phone)

Oh and when you set one of your photos to be the phone's wallpaper you can set it to extended view so it covers the entire screen area

All round in 16yrs of owning mobile phones its the best one for me personally, but not to say it will be the perfect phone for every1 lol.

Kyocera Slider Remix

Ok I am doing my first review, so please be kind.

I got a Kyocera Slider Remix via Cricket and really liked the look and feel of the phone. I had this phone for about a week and have played around with it. Here are the pros and cons that I found.
*One side note I did return this phone because I could not get service at my house, if I would have had service I most likely would have kept the phone.

Pros:
Very good feel when held. (making calls and the like)
Speaker is loud and clear. (I like loud, my 6600 is not loud enough)
Display is bright.
Great slider lock. (never opened or closed on me, though more use may have changed that)
MP3's sound good via a headset.
Call quality is excellent (when I had signal that is)
Buttons are good sized.
Battery life is great. (for a mid range non-smart phone)

Cons:
Stub antenna. (I prefer internal)
Keypad is very stiff.
Camera pictures for a 1.3 mp are not very good. (my 6600 camera takes better pictures)
The flash is almost useless.
It will not Ring and Vibrate at the same time.

Sort of Cons:
Filling the memory card to full causes the phone to reset. (in my test you need about 10% of your memory free, tried with a 1gig and a 512mb card)
MP3s played via the speaker are kind of boxy sounding.

Over all it is a reasonable phone (the best Cricket currently has) but not all that sensational.
To give is an "out of ten" rating I would put this phone at 6.5/10.

This phone is one of the newest (or so I was told) being offered by Cingular Wireless. It has a ton of features and can be enjoyed by both the gadget geek and joe mo who wants a kewl phone.

Some of the features include a MP-3 player, 1.3 megapixel camera, with a swiveling camera lens, and the most kewl accessory..you can use Cingular Video or Mobiradio, or MobiTV, which allows a subscriber with a 3G tech phone to view entire episodes of shows and clips of news, sports, entertainment and other things.

As a joe mo who was looking for something to replace my new/old crappy phone (sony ericsson z520a) I have found everything I was looking for and more. The interfaces are pretty easy to decipher and the buttons are large and make dialing easy. I can download superfast and I love the fact that I can watch the discovery channel and get a news update from my phone.

The only complaint that I have is LG has this inane ability to suddenly drop my call at a whim. The rep who sold me my phone said LG is notorious for bad reception, and thus far this has proven somewhat true..i.e. i have had a 5 minute call dropped 3 times. Despite this, the phone is awesome and I plan on having a great time with it.

Motorola e815

When I started my service on Verizon, I had to pick out a new phone. To be honest, this was not the phone I wanted. The first store we went to the employees were nasty, so we went to another store.

If that had not happened, I never would have found this phone. So I guess there is a reason for everything. Before we left the first store, I had gotten my mind set on one phone. However, when we got to the second store, they didn't have the one I wanted. My best friend had a Razr and I figured I had to settle for that one then. That was when I happened upon the Motorola e815. That's when I fell in love. I didn't really like the Razr because it was TOO flat for me. This one is flat, but not too flat. I can find it in my purse, yet shove it in a little pocket too.

It was easy to tinker with and figure things out as well. The best way to explain the buttons is like a fast food register. There are pics to tell you where things are: the camera, voicemail, etc. I like the little outside window so you don't have to flip it open to see who is calling and it gives the date and time. Also, you can stop it from ringing without opening and it's easy to adjust the volume. It came with a lot of things already loaded: games, pictures, sounds, etc. They were so cute I didn't bother to load some of my own stuff for a little while. When I wanted to customize it with things, that was easy to do.

The photos you take may not look that great on the phone, but when you transfer them to your comp, you'll swear a regular camera took them.

Overall, this is a great phone and superior to the Razr in many ways, So if you were trying to choose between the two, this one is my choice.

I got this phone about 3 Months ago and I love it. I was able to get 4 free phones from TMobile with a 1 year contract (3 of them are V360s). It has some really great features:

- Customized Ringers

- Bluetooth
- Alarm Clock
- Speakerphone

Summary of the phone:
I like this phone because it is sturdy. I am not worried that I am going to grab it roughly and have it snap in half. With some of the really thin RAZRs it would be a worry for me. Another thing I like about this phone is not quite as flashy as some of the others. I hate the RAZR for that reason - it looks too modern. The camera and video recorder are easy to use. There is a butter that immediately turns on the digital camera. You can choose to delete images right after you take them. It has a great alarm clock which is quite reliable. There is a calendar and several games that the phone comes with. If you use with T-Mobile, the other games are very easy to get. It comes with 64MB of memory, but is very easy to upgrade. The speed dialing for this phone is very easy to set up and not really buggy like some of the other phones I have. If you like your own ringtones, it even comes with a decent application (Motomixer), that allows you to mix your ringtones. For wallpaper, it is very easy to set a picture you take with your camera as the background. The quality on the digital camera is pretty good. The video camera as well picks up good sound and is of decent quality and resolution. I only have two things I don't really love about this phone - the volume and messaging system. It just is not very loud. The messaging system is really weird as well. Whenever you miss a call, it will buzz again every 5 minutes until you acknowledge that you missed a call. It does the same thing for any voicemail messages. If you are in a meeting and can't acknowledge the message, it can get pretty annoying. All said and done, the V360 is a great phone for more practical uses.

Motorola Q

The Sleek and Slick Motorola Q cell phone is advertised as the thinnest and lightest PDA type Cell phone on the market. I'm very impressed with its slight design and size. Its currently utilized on the Verizon and Sprint cell phone networks, but may soon not be so exclusive.

The "Q" has a Nice and Crisp feel with a selection of either Silver or Black and with a 2.5" LCD screen. If you don't like the basic colors, there are a variety of aftermarket "skins" and covers to spice up the presentation. The Q also utilizes the "Qwerty" keyboard often used with other PDA Type cell phones (See Palm Treo, BlackBerry, BlackJack).

The Q also offers a 1.3 megapixel camera capable of taking nice photos, as well as short video clips. It uses a Mini SD card for storage allowing even the most picture happy users to store plenty of photos (or MP3's, videos, contact, etc.).

This phone is really useful enough to allow you to leave the laptop at home if you are on the road for a short trip and need to check email often. Its easy to use email and Outlook as well as browse the web to check web based email. It does utilize the Windows Mobile Operating System and is easy to learn and get comfortable with if you are a PC user.

The Q also features BlueTooth capability, Voice recognition, a myriad of PC-type pre-installed basic games, and Wireless Sync to move files/emails back and forth from Cell Phone to PC.

PROS: Light/Thin, Excellent Internet/Email options, "Trendy" looks, easy to use Qwerty Keyboard, Well known Windows Operating System, Quick internet

CONS: Has Hard time recognzizing some BlueTooth Devices, LCD easily smudges, occasional call drops

Overall, I rate the phone 4.5/5. Its features are plentiful and it is a very easy phone to use. It helps the busy professional organize their schedule and stay up to date with email/internet access anywhere their network services. Its only drawback so far is that it appears to sometimes drop calls and has had problems recognizing some BlueTooth devices.

Nokia E90 with American 3G? Not looking good

So we've been sitting on this whole E90 controversy for a few days here, trying to separate the wheat from the chaff.

Fact is, a part of us is hoping that we can will an HSDPA 850 / 1700 / 1900-sporting Nokia E90 into existence, but we shouldn't have to; the need for firms like Nokia and Sony Ericsson to wake up and spend the extra few bucks to shove global 3G radios into every last one of their phones is painfully obvious.

Anyway, numerous readers have pointed out that the document in the E90's FCC filing referencing WCDMA on the 850, 1700, and 1900MHz bands is merely pointing out (for no good reason, may we add) the FCC's own radiation limits on those bands, and is probably not indicative of what bands are present within any particular device.

We personally wouldn't think the FCC needs to be reminded of those limits in a test report, but perhaps we'll let the technicians be technicians here and we'll stick to our writin' gig.

If y'all hear any good news about Nokia coming to its senses on this one, please be pals and pass on the good news -- but in the meantime, we'll go back to our 3G bellyaching.

Motorola e816

After I had an accident threw my e815, I needed new phone (I should add that it was still working after I threw it but it was in pieces). I was so happy with it so I decided to go with the same one. But by that time, they had upgraded it to the e816. Fine by me. I had not gotten to use the SD card with the e815 and I have with this one, and I love it even more. With it, you can extend the video length to 3 minutes and easily transfer things to and from the computer. Even my 8 year old can navigate it, and that is with photos, video, games, music, etc.

The e815 was silver, and my e816 is black with rubber covering it except for the front window and camera. That's wonderful, because I drop my phone a lot (I'm a busy woman). I had a cover on the silver phone, but I don't need it with this one. I also love how big the screen is. You can change how it looks, make it really your own. The keypad is large too, so anyone will be able to use it with ease. That is one thing I didn't like about the Razr, the keys were too flat for me. The keys here aren't fat or bulky, but they are just right so you can dial with ease. Also the new black e816's keypad is shiny and smooth while the silver e815 had brushed keys. I prefer the smooth one.

It may just be me, but I have noticed that the battery seems to be lasting longer. That was my one and only problem with the e815. So now I really have no issues. Motorola seems to have thought of everything. When I was using the Motorola Phone Tools and my battery was running out, I noticed that there was a place to add the power plug WHILE transferring data. I was very impressed...

LG VX9900 - The enV Review

The enV from LG has everything: EV-DO high-speed technology, V CAST, VZNavigator, Wireless Sync, a QWERTY keyboard, a large internal screen, dual stereo speakers, and an external memory port. It has a 2.0 megapixel camera & camcorder with autofocus and lens cover, and Bluetooth® stereo support for listening to music and it is packed into a slimmer and lighter weight design.

I have had a chance to play with this phone. I can tell you, now that I have had my hands on it and put it through it's paces....I won't be getting one.

PRO'S:

2 meg camera

Moved the CLR button on the front to a more accessable area

Slimmer

seperated the CLR and Speak button on the inside

added an email button on the inside

added another space bar on the left side in the inside

The two soft buttons are now easier to get to

CONS:

To make the phone thinner, they placed the hinge in the phone itself. Now when you open it up, the phone won't stay flat as the top part now sticks down to far so the phone flops to one side. This is also due to the fact that the camera now sticks out of the back. Very, very stupid design!!!

The inside button's don't stick out like the 9800 does, making it a bit weird and hard to text. Maybe over time, you would get used to it.

The Function key is now gone. I don't know if you now have to double tap the new email key or not.

If you own a 9800, you cannot use any of the items that you have bought for it.

Music Essential Kit won't work

Any Car Charger's or Home Charger's you bought won't work

They switched the SD Card. You will now have to buy a Micro SD Card instead of a Mini SD Card

The keys on the front are to close together, I ended up dialing a wrong number 7 out of 10 times. There is no way to feel what your dialing.

Both the dealer and myself agreed the phone was put together way to sloppy or just thrown together in a hurry. The way the front is hinged was the biggest complaint that both him and I had. We also let a few customers look it over and a 9800. Every one of them said they would take the 9800 over the 9900 if they had to chose. Biggest complaint being the hing and the camera and the way it rocked/wobbled all over when opened to the first position.

Man...what a disappointment!!!

I got this phone about 6 months ago at the t-mobile store. I think I got if for around $100 after getting a contract. The first thing that appealed to me was how thin it was and how it looked to be very strong. I have bought 2 of these cell phones because the first one got washed in the washing machine. The funny thing about that is that at first it didn't work like one would expect, but eventually it began to work fine. The only problem is that the microphone sounds muffled. I still got a new phone and I have of course dropped it many times and it still works great.

I've gone many days without charging, the manufacturer claims that it gets a whopping 172 hours on standby but only 210 minutes of talk time. With its built in bluetooth I'm able to connect to my laptop and send pictures that I've taken from the phone onto my computer. The problem is that the picture quality is just not good. It goes up to 640 x 480 but the quality just isn't there.

I remember the first call I made with this phone and the person I was talking to was having trouble understanding what I was saying, this was my first clue that the sound was not good on this phone. Even yesterday I was telling my dad that I was going to play "tennis" and I had to repeat this 6 or 7 times, either he is going deaf or my assumption is correct. The sound quality is not good on this cellphone and often it will for no apparent reason become very quiet to the point where I have to ask the caller to call back later.

I do a lot of texting and I have problems with how close the keys are too each other. I have big fingers and sometimes when navigating I will hit over and end up going to t-zones. This is a problem that wont effect most but it is a big downside for me.

Overall this is a very solid phone that looks awesome and never seems to escape that wow factor when someone sees it. The phone feels very solid and it is a good size for fitting in your pocket. The phone has a great design and its buttons are very intuitive for navigation.

The best feature of this phone, in my opinion, is the Office Suite application. This allows you to create and edit Word documents, as well as Excel and Powerpoint spreadsheets. It is easy to transfer word documents to and from you computer to your phone through bluetooth with relative ease. This is great for writing down notes during the day and uploading them to your pc/mac at the end of the day.

The major drawback in this phone is the unusually slow processing speed. Even simple applications take forever to load! I find myself pressing the buttons several times, thinking that I didn't hit it the first time, only to realize that it is still loading!

However, combined with the amazing layout of the keypad and the office suite app, this phone defiantly ranks among some of the higher quality phones out there!

Palm Treo 700wx

I purchased the Palm Treo 700wx from Sprint a couple of months ago and so far I love it. I’ve had cell phones before and I’ve had Palm PDAs before, but this is my very first smartphone. The first thing that I noticed the first time that I held this phone was its heft. This phone feels good in my hand: sturdy and solid. My previous phone was a very small LG flip phone that had to be held quite delicately so that certain buttons weren’t pushed. At 6.4 ounces, this phone is a bit bigger, but still fits in the palm of my hand nicely.

The Palm Treo 700wx comes with Microsoft Windows Mobile 5.0. This means that the main screen of the phone basically looks and works like the Windows Operating System often seen in computers. A “Start” button lists the phone’s available programs and Microsoft’s default blue and white/ grey color scheme is a familiar sight. Some people prefer the original Palm platform found in the Treo 700p, but I have found that I enjoy having Microsoft Office Mobile (Word Mobile, Excel Mobile, and PowerPoint Mobile) on my phone when I want to view documents on the go. The editing capabilities of these programs are very limited, but it is very useful when you want to read various email attachments while away from the computer. In addition, transferring Office files between my computer and phone via Microsoft’s ActiveSync program has been relatively hassle-free.

The Palm Treo 700wx also comes with a 1.3 megapixel camera. The lens is at the back of the phone next to the speaker and also includes a very small self-portrait mirror. I have a data package with my phone, so I tend to send and receive pictures through email a lot. The quality of the pictures is what you would expect from a 1.3 megapixel camera: slightly grainy and not very detailed. I don’t think the Treo’s picture quality is one of the selling points of this phone, but I will admit that it is nice to have the ability to take pictures with my phone at the spur of the moment.

The battery life of this phone is supposed to be relatively decent (“up to 5 hours of continuous digital talk time”). I have never put my phone to the test, battery-wise, but I haven’t yet run out of battery despite constant web surfing and an entire day’s worth of personal and business calls. This phone’s memory is also a talking point. The Treo 700wx is supposed to have twice as much memory as its predecessor, the Treo 700w. I have seen the benefit of this increase in memory when running programs and surfing the web as there is no noticeable lag or delay in my phone’s level of responsiveness. For people who require significant memory for their phones, this Treo also comes with an additional SD slot for memory expansion.

Although I love my Treo 700wx, it is not without its problems. First, there is a very small selection of pre-loaded ring tones to choose from. This is a minor pet peeve, but a pet peeve all the same. Also, the phone does freeze occasionally for no good reason. The solution is simple, however, and typically involves taking out the phone’s battery and restarting the phone. In addition, the phone’s qwerty keyboard is comprised of very small keys that may irritate people with large hands. Lastly, there is no integrated Wi-Fi on this phone though future Palm phones may have this feature. Those are all of the problems that I have encountered so far and I hope that don’t encounter more in the future.

Overall, I’ve enjoyed my Treo 700wx smartphone tremendously in the months that I have owned it. The primary reason that I purchased it was because I was interested in becoming more “connected” Internet-wise and this phone has surpassed my expectations for both web and email access. Web surfing is a breeze, although looking at the Treo’s 2 inch screen is no permanent substitute for a computer monitor, and checking email has been very easy with minimal set-up issues. One-handed navigation is also super simple and the convenience of being able to take a quick peek at my upcoming appointments without having to use two hands to flip open my phone is wonderful. This phone has fulfilled my needs and I would recommend it to anyone looking for an all-in-one phone/pda combination.

Motorola SLVR L7 Review

Just at the last moment the company of Motorola renamed its fashion line phones and assigned an L index to them (see details on this point in the review of L2/L6). For now, the top model is the L7 aka SLVR (coming from "sliver"). The device is interesting for its size being thinner than Motorola RAZR V3 and slightly larger (113.5x49x11.5 mm against 98x5313.9 for the RAZR). During the development of the Blade family, this device got a poetical name of Royal Blade, which was to stress the role of the phone and position in the line. But do not think the company decided on making it expensive from the very beginning, a traditional candy bar form-factor and the same feature set as in Motorola RAZR V3 (except for memory card support) couldn't form an extremely expensive product. The company representatives think the SLVR is the device for people who didn't have time to buy RAZR for some reason. As a bonus besides low price additional functionality as memory cards is provided

Messages. The default memory capacity for 100 SMS is provided; it may also vary depending on the software version. As a rule, operator versions are limited by 40 messages. The device works with EMS. Automatic cleaning of the whole message list should be mentioned as an extra possibility; there is a list of templates. Delivery report may be on permanently or switched on/off for a message

Office applications. This menu features a whole bunch of office applications such as the Calculator. It's convenient, the full digital keyboard is present on the screen, it reproduces the real keyboard perfectly. The menu features memory options and the unit converter.

Games and applications. The phone supports Java MIDP 2.0, all applications that are located in this menu item are based on this technology. The number of games and their title depends on where the phone was bought. The most often to find are Rebels (a space shooter) and Crazy (plain Worms, not very interesting

Multimedia. The phone supports themes. It's a set of wallpapers, color schemes for the menu, sounds and ring tone types. You can change the outlook of your phone almost instantly and this is really fun. New themes can be downloaded from Motorola's website.

The themes haven't changed; there are three of them - a standard, Techno, Scarlet. They not only change a colour menu representation but interface windows, the whole interface of the phone changes.

Camera. The device is equipped with a VGA-camera, which is a typical solution well known by all the triplets, no flash as well as any peculiarities. The camera is quite enough to take photos of people and use the photos in the phone book.

The camera allows not only taking photos but also recording video (3GP). The record may be called from the multimedia menu and then video. The duration of a record may be limited for a MMS or maximum (about 30 seconds). Two resolutions are supported 128x96 pixels and 176x144 pixels. Voice recording may be turned off. The quality of the video is average and the artifacts are seen on the screen. That was hard to expect the device will show any eminent features in recording video and it is typical and doesn't differ from other models. The time that saving the video takes almost equals that necessary for recording and that is a disadvantage.

Today Nokia introduced its newest music phone - the Nokia 3250. The Symbian smartphone has a unique twisting design - the traditional phone keypad can be transformed into a dedicated music player keypad. To store the music files, the phone uses microSD (TransFlash) card slot, it supports up to 1GB cards.

The Nokia 3250 comes as a successor of the popular 3230 model. It's good to see that the most criticized flaw of the 3230 has been fixed - the new phone has high quality stereo music player and also comes with a standard 3.5 mm audio jack. The camera is upgraded to 2 megapixels and now can be used in landscape mode thanks to the twisting design. The other upgrades include - a better display, a newer version of the Symbian Series 60 OS and a faster EDGE connectivity.

The triband GSM 900/1800/1900 model is expected to start shipping in the first quarter 2006 with an estimated retail price of 350 EUR before subsidies or taxes.

Also today Nokia introduced "Nokia XpressMusic", a dedicated feature brand that makes it easy for consumers to identify mobile devices that ensure the best mobile music experience. The sound quality is awesome, the resolution on the screen is great, performs just like any phone should + its has tons of options. Just went out and bought a 256 t-flash card for it. Going to test out the mp3 player and the movie player tonight.

everyone at work had to see it. only good things from them also.

cons

proprietary headset, cant use anything besides what comes with it or a bluetooth,

screen gets smudged easily, i bought the optional case but still take it out every once in awhile and get fingerprints on it.

I will update as i use it more and let you guys know the good and the bad. also if anyone has any sites where i can get some good java games please let me know.

Samsung D600

Just recived my D600 and i must say its sleek.....i was using the LG1400 so bassically anything was an upgrade from that.....

First thing i tried out was the sliding feature (because i was use to a flip phone) and i must say it felt very solid and smooth with a pretty nice "locking notch" feature which was just as easy to slide back down.......

Next i was off to check out the screen quality which i heard was one of the best.....i must admit i was very impressed with the resolution and the amount of space on the screen which is fully customizable......the menu's were set up just like my LG for the most part and was super easy for me to learn (would be easy for the average cell phone user to learn as well)......

The build of the phone really feels solid nothing on the phone feels cheap and it fits VERY nicely in my hand both in the closed and open positions......

Pros:
-the 2.0 MegaPixel camera is phenominal (flash is nice as well)
-Size of screen and the resolution
-Storage amount of 80mb on the phone WITH a t-flash expandable memory so you can have over a gig of memory (round $55-$75 for a gig media card)
-bluetooth is nice (borrowed a bluetooth headset)
-Software included with the phone for hooking phone up to computer was easy to navigate and learn
-keypad lock is a must
-speakerphone!! nice and loud and easy to use and you dont even have to slide the phone up to use it
-reception is better than my last phone (maybe because this is a quad band and my other was a tri band?)
-can hook up to a TV with included cable (good for microsoft office which is included on the phone) also good for video's you capture with the phone
-phone only took round 7-10 minutes to set up from the time i opened the box (you got to set time/date, i changed the ringtone and other phone sounds, and how the phone works when slide up and down)
-buttons are pretty good size and easy for my hands

Cons:
-have to hold down the volume button to mute incoming calls (if you dont want to just reject them and send them instantly to voicmail)
-like the D500 the D600 is a little top heavy when in the up position and when using the text message feature u got to make sure u dont let it fall out of your hands
-software phone comes with is a bassic cd and when u click update to get the newest version of the software their are an additional 170 updates which takes around 10 minutes to update fully
-hit the end button while mp3 player is playing it quits and goes straight back to main screen with no warning

my enitial thoughts on this phone are nothing but positive

would i recommend this phone to other cell phone users? without a doubt

this phone litterally has it all.....

Motorola Razr V3

OK. Before I begin this review, I thought I would explain what I'm going to do with this post. I have just gotten a Razr a week ago and I'm going to do a reveiw on it already. Then in a few weeks, I will add onto this review, to see how things are, and whether I have changed my mind about certain aspects, this will really help those who just want to know how peole love their Razr so much, or how they become to hate, or love it more. So, with that behind us, let's begin.

The Motorola Razr V3, a beautifully crafted object of excellence, bravery, and envy. Whatever it is to you, it is a phone that is like no other. Not once have I ever looked at a cell phone and said, "WOW!, What a beauty". Well, this Razr changes it all. From the polished outer side, to the "chemically etched keyboard" it has it all. Now that I have explained the main reason I got this phone, lets get to the nitty gritty.

This phone is a really good cell phone, if that is what you want to use it for. But, if you want more, then you got it. This phone is packed with tons of goodies to keep anyone happy. From text messages, to IMs (AIM, AOL Instant Messenger), to a WAP supported browser, to Java games and tons of other great things.

The calling quality is great. I can hear other people, and they can hear me. I had a Samsung T509 before this and I could barely hear it, and speakerphone wasn't very good at all. So I switched to another thin phone. The volume is very good, it plays MP3s and 3gp video files and I can hear 'em (I'm partly deaf).

The video quality, as far as I'm concerned is not the best. It plays videos decently, but if you want to play videos get an iPod video, same with the music, but great additions to a phone. And newer Razrs support video recording, but it's not very good, slow framerate at less than 13, so I just stick with taking pictures with it's nice camera. Takes great pictures (for a cell phone) But the new Razr (V3i and up) have a 3megapixel camera, but that is another review...

Playing games on this phone is good too. Java supported games are very fun for someone on the bus who has nothing to do. From Tetris to Bejeweled to Asphalt are just some examples of games. They play nicely, and work well with the Razr's controls. Although, after a little while of gameplay my hands get cramped and I have to switch hands. But viewing the game is very easy with a nice bright display.

The display is big and beautiful. Big and bright. Easy to read all the text and can display a lot of text lines. Pictures don't display as nicely as they could, and full screen mode with pictures isn't possible, so it can be a pain. And the display is very bright and works alongside the bright keyboard that is really different, becuase it's completely flat. It has some ridges so you can tell the keys apart, and you can tell the 5 key, which is good, but, you will notice, those ridges do in fact show up on the display, so you may be wiping it down a lot, if your like me.

Overall, this is a great phone, with tons of features, and I haven't barely covered the Global band, phonebook, and all those, I haven't really used them. But I will tell you in my second review when I do use them. Right now I have covered the basics of this phone. Another great plus for the brave few, this is a very moddable phone (just like the PSP is) So that brings it some customizability, which is a big plus.

So, there is my review for now, and until my next review, i give this phone an 8. For crafted beauty, useability, and reliabilty. Check back in a few weeks for the second part of this review, see if I change my mind on certain parts, or get happier about certain things. Hoped this waived you into buying, or not buying the phone, so ur not on the fence (ouch) still. So, until later, thank you for your time.

LG VX8300

I had to purchase two new phones, one for my daughter and one for my wife, my daughter (sixteen) received the new KRZR, my wife not being a cell phone literate or cell phone conscious, I need to evaluate her needs. I needed a phone somewhat stylish with a GOOD battery life and simplicity. She never leaves her phone on all the time so the 8300’s good battery life takes up the slack of her not being conscious of re-charging due to lack of use, someone who uses a cell allot my be more conscious of battery life. She doesn’t need allot of bells and whistles, but for the cost ($79) of the 8300 i can’t go wrong with the extras even though she may never use them.

The camera phone is always a convenient to have on hand… the 8300 provides a flash for dark close up camera shots. The photos/videos are adequate enough for web/email viewing like most mega pixel camera cell phones, the video camera is good enough for capturing video, once again …for web/email. I also like the viewing display feature the 8300 provides on the face screen for viewing a self-portrait.

The buttons on the face of the phone are distinct and touch friendly, but they could be hazardous because of accidental touch or engagement when the phone is either carried in your pocket or pocketbook. When you open the phone you look at elegant simplicity with a stylish color with a bluish purple number illumination. You will also notice when you flip the phone open… the buttons invite you to touch them, they protrude from the face inside the base of the phone with distinction that makes the buttons easy to press without fumbling or miss targeting with your finger. The view screen is good enough for viewing photos, movies, and reading text with ease but is somewhat smaller than the razr.

The 8300 has one design I don’t care for which is the antenna that sticks out the top of the phone, I like the newer phones which carries the antenna within the top or bottom of the phone i.e.… razr, Samsung a990, a930, krzr, or chocolate. The 8300 like the krzr has a convenient/quick navigation that takes you to an event calendar with the press of the down arrow on the navigation wheel, some people may find a quick access to an event calendar very useful. Another great feature the 8300 have is a loud quality speaker for the speakerphone feature as some of the Nextel’s phones have. The button to access the speakerphone lies in the center of the inside face of the dial buttons with a clear icon of a speaker for locating and engaging with the thumb. I like this phone because of what it offers for the price, it’s a great phone that does it all… and does it well.

Nokia N-Gage

I wanted phone. Not just any phone. I wanted music, games plus a phone and I didn’t want to kill my thumbs while playing. I stumbled upon the Nokia N-Gage. A GSM Mobile Phone using the 1900Mhz / 900Mhz / 1800Mhz bands so it can be used on Cingular GSM but it lacks the 850MHz band that Cingular uses for a lot of its coverage so you could lose critical coverage so it is best suited on T-Mobile a 1900Mhz only provider. The N-Gage is also a Symbian Series 60 device which is Nokia’s smartphone operating system, so it’s a game system, music player, radio and smartphone!

The N-Gage is packed full of features, like the MP3\AAC Player the unit produces clear, loud, vibrant sound through the stock headset which also has a built-in microphone, for those quick calls. You store music files on the MMC card that is included with the sales package, mine came with a 32MB card but you will probably need more space for more pictures, games and music. You transfer data through a USB cable and Nokia PC Suite very simple to do this. The radio also produces similar sounding results compared to the MP3 player. Radio reception is very good better than most Nokia radio phones I’ve used (and I’ve used quite a few) you can also store 20 stations in the memory. The gaming portion of the unit is very good it is set up very well, directional controls on the left of the screen and “A” and “B” buttons on the right, like a Game Boy™ Advance unit. The graphics aren’t the greatest but what do you expect from a mobile phone \ gaming unit? Games are also available on MMC cards alone for about 10-15 dollars you can get games like, Tony Hawk Pro Skater and Tomb Raider on MMC cards. Reception, ah good ol’ reception, reception was very good on T-Mobile service, the way I test the reception on phones is I go around my bathroom a very fringe area if your lucky you can get a bar or two the N-Gage pulled a steady two bars without being choppy or any static. One thing I must mention is that you must turn the phone on its side and talk on it, I suggest a headset for long conversations because its irritating on your ears. So, overall its good powerhouse of a phone does everything I wanted it to do and then some.
